Concepts and Vault by Vans introduce their latest collaboration–the ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ pack, including the OG SK8-Hi LX and OG Old Skool LX.

The phrase ‘it’s all smoke and mirrors’ originated from stage performers using smoke and mirrors to distract an audience, to blur their line of sight, which makes an audience believe the things they can see and use their imagination to fill in the grey areas that they can't. Today, the term is used to describe things that are an illusion, distraction or artful deception. The designs for the Concepts x Vault by Vans capsule take on the literal interpretation from the elements of smoke and mirrors–using suede, sublimated canvas and reflective highlights signifying the mirror aspects.

Concepts has collectively worked with Vans on over 15 projects, including the ‘Rat Hunter’ Syndicate Old Skool, designed in tribute to The Rathskeller, New England's answer to New York's CBGBs and a venue for local and national bands like Bad Brains and The Ramones. Later on came the "Forty Deuce" Old Skool sneaker, inspired by NYC's 42nd Street during its grittiest in the 1970s, and more recently our Mohair Pack using the material made famous by Vivienne Westwood in the mid-70s, and resurrected in the 90s by inspiring the punk rock giants of the day.
